In Chinese medicine Autumn rules the Lungs and the Large Intestines. Energetically autumn is the season that prepares us to let go. Letting go of what is finished, non-essential, or not being utilized, is not always an easy process. Most of us hang on much longer than we need to. Our melancholy or regrets can keep us attached to anything much longer than what might be beneficial. Even not being able to release regret and sadness can be a pattern for some, and can further weaken this organ system.
If you are in harmony with the season of release, you will have an awareness of keeping in your life what is vital and wholesome, and gracefully releasing what is no longer being honored, or what has served its time. As a culture, possibly as a human collective, we tend to hoard our resources, and fill our dwellings with fodder. Perhaps a good purging is in order in this season of release? Nature is a beautiful example of this. There should be a reverence for literally everything in our lives. The divine resinates through everything in existence, when you tend to your body, your belongings, your thoughts… honoring each, choosing each, and tending each, makes for a very powerful and sacred way of being.
The large intestine's function, is to absorb from undigested food, water and mineral salts, and to release waste from our bodies. Similar to the Large Intestine, the lungs pull in air (oxygen) and expel waste (carbon dioxide). Breathing freely, and expelling waste excreted from the lungs is essential to our respiratory health. These organs are indicative of utilizing and release. Metal element reminds us of our awareness of what separates self from other. A healthy boundary is open to other while having awareness of our unique individuality.
Many of the essential oils in our Autumn Blend have been selected to offer support to these two organs that extract what is vital from the environment. Eucalyptus opens us up to broader vistas and helps us see more possibilities. Cypress essential oil offers us support in times of change and release, and pine essential oil helps to open the breath and like the mighty pine tree, supports grounding and certainty.
Acceptance and letting go, boundary and openness that are balanced, and a respect for cycles of gathering and release, are all indicative of Metal element. Use our REVERENCE essential oil blend to support yourself in times of release or when boundaries are needed.
