2019: A Year Full Of Changes

I know I don’t need to tell you all how fast time flies by. 2019 has been a big year of change for EAA, and I want to fill all of you in on the details.

It has been a lifelong dream of mine to have property on which I could feed myself and my family, and also harvest wild plant medicines, and grow organic botanicals.  After exhausted searches for affordable property around the PNW turned up nothing, we found land in north Idaho, that was remote, and wildly beautiful. We have good growing conditions here, with warm temps in early spring, reaching the high 90’s by July. The soil is rich, but it’s clay conditions will need to be amended with compost and chipped bark.

We have been working on refurbishing an existing greenhouse structure, and fencing (deer proofing) a large area where we will install raised beds. This past May, I was able to plant many of the botanicals we use in our products. This summer I harvested chamomile, calendula, and rose. Next year we will add comfrey, lavender, and rose geranium.

We have plans for building a small shed that will serve as a distillation room where we will manufacture our rose geranium and lavender hydrosols.

These beautiful, gentle, subtle plant waters are at the heart of our formulations. We have gone to great expense to use these plant waters instead of filtered or tap water. Water in ALL products adds nothing medicinally speaking and must be buffered with anti-bacterial agents. Hydrosols treat skin with the most gentle of influences, and because they are water, they are powerful mood shifters as well.

Production of Essential Apothecary Alchemist is still based in Seattle. Fate blessed me with meeting the lovely Kim Smith. She worked with me for almost a year learning all of my formulations and procedures. We became partners in May of 2019. Kim brings a sweet and thoughtful energy to her work, and I am grateful for all of her contributions.

As we move into the closing of 2019 we would like to take the opportunity to thank all of you for your continued love and loyalty. For the month of November, we are offering a 20% discount on all orders. Use the discount code GRATITUDE19. Thank you for following our story on Instagram, and you can also keep up with the changes at the farm in Idaho at: @huntermoon.homestead.
