Have You Eaten Your Prune Medicine Today?
A prune is a dried plum.
I have the blessing and the opportunity to spend quite a bit of time with women of all ages. Because I have a multi-faceted career, I am able to gather women in different stages of life and I marvel at how similar we all are, and how beautifully unique at the same time. I gratefully have many loyal users of EAA products. It is wonderful to see so many of you who have been loyal users of EAA over the past decade plus, truly have the most radiant skin. Your thoughtfulness of your wellness has paid off in a big way!
The following prune discovery reinforced something I've always believed about EAA skincare: true beauty and health come from nourishing our bodies from the inside out. Just as I refuse to put fillers in our skincare products, I'm learning to refuse empty calories in my diet. When we feed our bodies nutrient-dense foods like prunes, it shows up in our skin, our energy, and our overall vitality.
Prunes For Better Bone Health
The wisdom of the quote, "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure," has been true for me, and something I have tried to live by. For those of you who read my posts, and are moving into menopause, and those of you who are postmenopausal, I have a 1.7 ounce prevention for bone loss. I would say, that is worth much more than a pound of cure.
Please read this study published on the National Library of Medicine. In summation of the study, women who ate approximately 6 prunes daily for 12 months preserved bone mineral density and strength, most significantly in the hip bones, reduced bone loss, and had fewer hip fractures.
Prunes are a nutrient dense food source that are high in fiber, potassium, and vitamin K (bone building). The fiber and potassium in prunes can assist in lowering cholesterol and may help regulate blood pressure. Prunes are high in fiber and assist in regular and healthy bowel movements. Prunes contribute to higher levels of adiponectin, a hormone that contributes to blood sugar regulation. Because of their high fiber content, prunes contribute to the feeling of satiety and can help reduce overeating. All in all, a pretty amazing food to add to your daily, food is medicine, lifestyle.

Why Bone Health Matters More Than You Think
Many women don't think about bone health until they receive concerning news from their doctor, but here's what I've learned through my conversations with women across all life stages: by the time we're diagnosed with osteopenia or osteoporosis, we're already playing catch-up in a game we should have been winning all along.
Our bones are living, breathing tissue—constantly breaking down and rebuilding in a delicate dance of renewal. Think of it like your skin cells, but on a much slower timeline. During our younger years, this process favors building, creating the strong foundation we'll rely on for decades. But around age 30, this balance begins to shift, and after menopause, the decline accelerates dramatically due to dropping estrogen levels.
What does this mean for our daily lives? Everything. Strong bones aren't just about avoiding fractures in our golden years—though that's certainly important. They're about maintaining the freedom to live life on our own terms. I've watched too many vibrant women become cautious and fearful because they're worried about falling, about breaking a hip, about losing their independence. Their world gradually shrinks as their confidence in their body's strength diminishes.
But here's the empowering truth: we have more control over our bone destiny than we might think. Just as we can nurture our skin with thoughtful, consistent care, we can nurture our bones with intentional daily choices. The women I know who radiate confidence and vitality well into their 70s and 80s aren't lucky—they're prepared. They understood that bone health in particular, but their health in general, just like skincare, is about prevention, not intervention.
It's not about perfection; it's about consistency in the small things that compound into significant protection over time.
Good health and happiness to all of you!
